SCRIP, what in
is it?
Hi, my name is Theresa Zavala and I am the Scrip
Coordinator. I would like to welcome the
new families to Annunciation Catholic School, and welcome back the returning
families for the 2010/2011 school year.
There are two family obligations you must meet for the
year. One is Service Hours and the other
is Fundraising. Scrip pertains to
Fundraising only.
What is Scrip? Scrip
is one way you can meet your family obligation for Fundraising through out the whole year. The
good thing is that it doesn’t cost you anything to participate in the Scrip
program. Scrip is gift cards for places
you would be shopping anyway.
How does it work? I
purchase gift cards/certificates (scrip) from a large company called, Great
Lakes. There are many types of retailers available; grocery store chains,
restaurants, hardware, dept stores, gas, etc.
I can purchase this scrip at a predetermined discount. I then sell the scrip to you at face
value. The difference between the face
value of the scrip and the discounted price is fundraising revenue for our
school. For example: I purchase $100.00
in scrip for Staters grocery store from Great Lakes for 5% less the face value
at $95.00. Then you purchase it from me
for the face value at $100.00 and the $5.00 difference goes towards your
fundraising obligation. IT’S THAT EASY! Please see the attached Scrip order form
for the list of venders that we can purchase.
If you don’t see a store you are interested in, call me and I will see
if they are on another list that I have.
What do you need to do?
Just fill out the top portion of the order form (don’t forget your phone
#), circle the desired increments, and write in the total dollar amount that
you want for each vender. At the bottom of the form write in the grand total’s,
write a check, money order to TIGER SCRIP or you can pay cash and turn in. We
now accept Visa and MasterCard! You must
fill out a V/MC form with me first. I
can send one home to you or you can fill one out on Mondays at my table.
Where do you turn in?
I will be outside by the lunch tables at 7:45ish a.m. to 8:10 a.m. on
Mondays (Tuesday if Monday is a holiday).
If I have the scrip you would like to purchase, then I will give it to
you on the spot. If I don’t have it in stock, then I will order it and you will
receive it by that Thursday (Friday if Monday was a holiday). If you drop your child off earlier, then you
or your child can take your order form to the school office and put it in the
clear Scrip box on the counter. Daycare
students can give it to the daycare teacher and the daycare teacher will give
it to me by 8:10 am. I have to receive
the orders by 8:10 a.m. Monday to have them ready for you on Thursday. Please do not put your scrip order form in
the Monday folders. I may not get them for a day or so if you do. If you don’t meet the turn in time
requirement then the order will go in for the next week.
How do you pick up the scrip? On Thursdays I will be at the lunch tables at
7:45 to hand give you your scrip. If you
are late or cannot get your scrip on Thursday, the school office will hold it
for you and you can pick up before or after school any day. You
can also request to have the scrip sent home with your child or sent to
Daycare. Please fill out the attached
Authorization/Release form if you would like your scrip sent home with your
child. Please take into consideration if
you feel your child is responsible enough to pick up the scrip when called into
the office and bring it home safely to you, it is the same as cash.
Why should you buy scrip?
It doesn’t cost you anything extra!
It is an easy way to meet your fundraising obligation.
Please only call me from 8am-8pm. My cell number is on the bottom of the forms.
Please do not call my home number. I
have had people call me as early as 6am and as late as 11pm and holidays. This is all volunteer work on my part and I
have to meet the fundraising obligation as everyone else. I do not get paid to
do this. I just ask that you Please respect my family time. Thank you so much

Blank scrip forms I
will be sending blank scrip forms each Monday in your Monday folders or you can
pick one up in the office. Staple your payment
to the form or put it in an envelope if you are going to leave it in the scrip
box or daycare. We are working on
getting the scrip forms on our web page.
Visa/ MasterCard Again, We are now excepting Visa and
MasterCard as payment for scrip. If you
want to pay by debit card it must have a Visa or MasterCard logo and you must
also fill out a Visa/MasterCard form with me to get started.
***Changes to this year scrip program***
Due to the high cost of running the Visa/Mater Card, you can
not pay with your credit card for items that have a 1% or 2%, (example = gas cards, Disney and
Walmart). Please see me with any
questions.
