Celebrating the Good News
Through Courage, Faith, and Love
When I was a child one of the favorite
television series we watched as a family was Wagon Train. It was full of
adventure, hardships that ended with successes, and people learning to live
with one another on this journey for a new life. Five years ago we all began a
journey in creating a new school from the merger of two historical schools. We
have accomplished a great deal in those five years. We have improved the safety
of the facility, raised the level of academics, and provided new expectations
for spiritual development. We have welcomed new families to our community,
cried when we lost someone, and celebrated many good times including Autumn
Nights, the Christmas Program, and the Golf Tournament. Our students have
worked hard as proven by the number of students accepted at RosaryHigh School,
ServiteHigh
School, WhittierChristianHigh
School, and those who have been accepted into the
Honors or International Baccalaureate programs at our local public high
schools. We have made good friends and have had to say good-bye to some
wonderful people for whom God had other plans.
The viewers were all distressed when the
Wagon Master, Ward Bond, had to leave the show. There was no one who could
replace his wisdom, his steadfastness, his caring. However, John McIntire did a
wonderful job as Wagon Master, and he brought new ideas and new insights into
the lives of the people he led. Although I have loved it here at AnnunciationCatholicSchool,
I, too, am stepping down as Wagon Master. However, I am confident that the new
Wagon Master, Ms. Barbara Barreda, will do an awesome job in this position. She
has years of experience and already has new and exciting ideas to help our
school flourish. Please be as supportive of her as you have been of me. Get to
know her and allow her to lead our school into the future. Although I won’t be
continuing the journey with you, my prayers and love will always be with you.
May God bless you
with a fabulous summer and thank you for your love and support,
